Traceability is the ability to connect a physical item with the record that describes it. A batch or lot reference is one part of that connection; it is not proof of quality by itself.
A useful chain of information
Product identity, batch reference, relevant dates, storage information and supporting documents should agree. When one element cannot be matched, the record needs review.
Why presentation matters
Important fields should not be buried in promotional copy. Consistent placement makes comparison and checking easier.
What not to assume
A code on packaging does not automatically validate origin, testing, compliance or suitability. Those statements require appropriate evidence.
